A word on routines

When the routine isn’t working, look at the routine (not the child).
There are certain parts of family life that become the thing. Getting out the door. The shoes. Hair brushing. Getting into school. Dinner. Getting off the iPad. The shower. Bedtime. When the same moment goes wrong, day after day, it gets very easy for the conversation to become about the child. “Why won’t they just get dressed?” “They know what to do.” “We’ve told them a hundred times”. “They can do it when they want to”.

Sometimes they absolutely can do it. They do know. But knowing what to do, and being able to do it in that moment, as part of everything else swirling around them, are not always the same thing. That gap is where K+C Village gets interested.
