PROGRAMS FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL KIDS + FAMILIES

At K+C Village, we support primary school-aged children to build confidence, independence and meaningful participation across home, school and community life. As children grow, so do the expectations placed on them, and we work alongside children, families, schools and the important people around them to develop the skills, strategies and supports they need to thrive. Through practical, relationship-based and participation-focused approaches, we help children navigate everyday challenges while building on their strengths, interests and potential.

Individual Therapy

One-on-one therapy gives us the opportunity to really understand each child’s strengths, challenges and goals, and tailor support to what matters most in their everyday life. We use engaging, practical and relationship-based approaches to support skills for regulation, confidence, friendships, independence, learning and participation at home, school and in the community. We also work closely with parents, caregivers and educators so children feel supported across the environments that matter most to them.

Peer Program

Our peer programs give children the opportunity to build confidence, friendships and social connection alongside other kids in a supportive environment. Through shared activities and group experiences, children can practise skills for communication, teamwork, emotional regulation, flexibility and participation in a way that feels fun, meaningful and real. Therapists guide the groups while helping children feel safe, included and successful within peer environments.

Community Inclusion Program

For primary school aged children, our Community Inclusion Program is focused on helping kids participate more confidently in community-based sporting and recreational activities and/or building the everyday organisation and independence skills needed for daily life at home and in the community.

Family Foundations Program

Our Family Foundations Program supports families with young children by focusing on the people and environments around the child. Using a coaching-based, early childhood best-practice approach, we work alongside parents and other important adults to build confidence, strengthen everyday routines and support children’s participation across home, early learning programs and community life.

While You Are Waiting Program

Our While You Are Waiting Program provides practical support and guidance for families while waiting for ongoing services or funding to begin. Rather than putting life on hold, we help families better understand their child, build confidence in everyday strategies, and support participation, regulation, and routines through simple, achievable steps that can be used straight away. Time limited targeted support that is affordable and helps you to wait with purpose!

Your Pathway

1. Getting Started

We meet with the important adult/s in a child’s life to truly understand their “story”, your concerns, what matters most to your family and what you hope to see change. From there, we help guide you to the most appropriate service options and start shaping a support plan that reflects your child and your family’s needs, rather than fit your child, young person, or young adult into a predetermined pathway and system.

2. Getting to know your child + your family

We spend time getting to know your child’s strengths, interests and the areas where they may need support. By understanding how your child functions in their everyday environments – at home, at school and in the community, we can work together to set meaningful goals. This is an assessment phase, but it is firmly grounded in real-life observations and experiences.

3. Working With your child and family to achieve goals

Once we know what matters most, we begin working alongside your child and family to support progress towards those goals. This may include individual sessions, peer programs, community-based supports or guidance for the adults around them. Our focus is always on building skills, confidence and participation in everyday life.

4. Moving On

Once goals have been achieved we have set you up with all the things your child needs to be able to maintain the progress we’ve made within the community, it is time to move away form OT knowing you will always be welcomed back if new concerns or challenges arise.
