PROGRAMS FOR TEENS + SCHOOL‑LEAVERS

Growing up can be exciting, confusing, overwhelming and everything in between, and you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. At K+C Village, we’re here to help you build confidence, independence and the skills you need for whatever comes next. Whether you’re finishing school, thinking about work or study, making friends, learning to manage everyday life or just trying to feel more confident being yourself, we’ll work alongside you to help you achieve the goals that matter most to you. Our support is practical, respectful and built around your strengths, interests and the life you want to create. We will also work with the adults in your life to support you to manage this exciting time.

Individual Programs

Growing up can feel exciting, confusing, overwhelming and everything in between, and you do not have to figure it all out on your own. Our one-on-one support for teens and school leavers is all about helping young people build confidence, independence and the practical skills needed for real life.

Support is shaped around what matters to you and might include things like managing stress and emotions, friendships, daily routines, getting organised, navigating the community, preparing for work or study, and building confidence for adult life. We focus on practical, real-world support that feels respectful, supportive and genuinely useful for where you are at right now.

Peer Program

Our teen peer programs are a place to hang out, connect with people who get you and build confidence in a way that feels natural and supportive. It is about making friends, exploring shared interests, trying new things and feeling more comfortable being yourself around others.

We also help you build real-life skills for what comes next- things like communication in a workplace, teamwork, problem-solving, handling social situations, volunteering, getting a first job and becoming more independent in everyday life.

Community Inclusion Program

Want to feel more confident getting out into the community, trying new things or becoming more independent? Our Community Inclusion Program is all about supporting you to build real-life skills in real-life situations.

That might look like learning to catch public transport, building confidence in social situations, trying new activities, volunteering, exploring work experience, managing routines or just feeling more comfortable navigating everyday life on your own. We work alongside you to build confidence, problem-solving skills and independence in ways that actually connect to your life, goals and interests.

Café Program

Our Café Program gives you the chance to build real-world job skills in a real community café,  not a pretend setup or classroom program. Working alongside our team, you will learn things like taking orders, making drinks, working with others, staying organised, managing stress, communicating with customers and handling workplace routines.

The program is built around your goals and confidence level, so support changes as your skills grow. We start with the basics, help you practise and build confidence, then gradually support you to become more independent in the café environment. It is all about gaining real experience, building confidence and feeling more prepared for work, community life and greater independence.

Pathways to a First Job

Thinking about getting a job but not sure where to start? Our Pre-Vocational Programs, including Steps for Success and Next Steps, help teens build the confidence and real-life skills needed for first jobs, volunteering and becoming more independent.

You will have the chance to explore your interests, figure out your strengths and practise practical workplace skills like communication, teamwork, organisation, problem-solving and handling responsibilities. The programs are hands-on, supportive and designed to help you feel more prepared for real work environments at your own pace. As your confidence grows, we can also support you to explore work experience and real job opportunities in the community.

School Leavers Program

Finishing school can feel exciting, stressful, confusing, or all three at once. Our School Leavers Program is here to support you as you figure out what comes next and build confidence for life beyond school.

The program is built around your goals, interests and the kind of future you want for yourself. That might include building independence, learning everyday life skills, exploring work options, getting more involved in the community, navigating adult responsibilities or simply feeling more confident trying new things.

We work alongside you, your family and the important people around you to help make the transition out of school feel less overwhelming and more achievable, supporting you to build strong foundations for adult life in a way that feels practical, supportive and connected to who you are.

Your Pathway

1. Getting Started

This is where we get to know you. We chat about what is going well, what feels hard and what you want help with. Often we chat with your important adults as well (usually the ones you live with who know you bets) Together, we figure out what matters most to you and what kind of support might actually be useful in your everyday life. There is no “one-size-fits-all” program here, we build support around you, your goals and your life.

2. Getting to know you

Everyone is different, so we take the time to understand your strengths, interests and the things that might be getting in the way right now. That could be stuff at school, home, work, friendships, emotions, routines or being out in the community. We look at what life actually feels like for you day-to-day so we can work together on goals that feel meaningful, realistic and connected to real life.

3. Working on your goals

Once we know what you want to work on, we start building support around those goals. That might include one-on-one support, peer programs, community activities, work readiness programs or helping the important adults around you better support you too. The focus is always on helping you build confidence, independence and skills for everyday life. Support stays flexible and changes as your needs, goals and confidence change over time.

4. Moving Forward

The goal is not for you to rely on support forever. It is about helping you build the confidence, skills and strategies to handle things more independently over time. Life changes, challenges come and go and sometimes people need extra support at different points, and that is okay. We want to help you feel more prepared to keep moving forward, stay connected to your community and feel confident navigating whatever comes next.
