PROGRAMS FOR LITTLE KIDS + FAMILIES

At K+C Village, we support babies, toddlers and preschool-aged children by working alongside the important adults in their life. Our early childhood supports are built around relationships, play, participation and everyday routines, because young children learn best through connection with family, community and the people who care for them most. Guided by early childhood best-practice frameworks, we focus on building children’s confidence and skills in natural environments like home, kindy and the community, while helping families feel supported, capable and empowered along the way.

Individual Programs

One-on-one support helps our therapists really get to know your child and family, so we can tailor support to what matters most in your everyday life. We use play-based, relationship-focused strategies to help children build skills for regulation, engagement, independence and participation at home, in early learning programs and in the community. Using early childhood best practice and a coaching approach, we also work alongside parents, caregivers and educators so the important adults around your child feel supported and confident too.

Peer Program

Peer opportunities for little kids looks like supported playgroups designed to help young children build confidence, connection and participation alongside other children by creating safe, playful opportunities for play. Therapists guide the group while also coaching parents and caregivers to better understand and support their child’s development.

Community Inclusion Program

Little kids access our Community Inclusion program through OT Assistant support within Early Childhood Education and Care programs or to help establish routines and play spaces at home.

Family Foundations Program

Family Foundations Program supports families with young children by focusing on the people and environments around the child. Using a coaching-based, early childhood best-practice approach, we work alongside parents and other important adults to build confidence, strengthen everyday routines and support children’s participation across home, early learning programs and community life.

While You Are Waiting Program

While You Are Waiting Program provides practical support and guidance for families while waiting for ongoing services or funding to begin. Rather than putting life on hold, we help families better understand their child, build confidence in everyday strategies, and support participation, regulation, and routines through simple, achievable steps that can be used straight away. Time limited targeted support that is affordable and helps you to wait with purpose!

Your Pathway

1. Getting Started

This is where we begin. Guided by early childhood best-practice principles, we take the time to understand your concerns, learn about your child’s strengths and everyday experiences, and explore what matters most to your family. We look at your child within the context of their relationships, routines and environments so we can build a shared understanding of how they participate, learn and engage in daily life. Together we build a program of supports that match your child and family needs right now.

2. Getting to know your child + your family

Guided by early childhood best-practice principles, we take the time to understand your child within the context of their everyday life — their strengths, relationships, routines, interests and the environments where they live, learn and play. We then use this information to work with you to set functional goals.

3. Working With your child and family to achieve goals

Rather than following a fixed program, we work flexibly and responsively alongside your family, adapting supports over time to reflect your child’s changing strengths, needs and goals. Guided by early childhood best-practice principles, support may include individual therapy, supported peer programs, community-based participation, parent coaching, educator collaboration or building the confidence and capacity of the important adults around your child. Our focus is always on strengthening participation, relationships, confidence and skills within the environments where children live, learn and play.

4. Moving On

There will come a time where your goals have been achieved and it is time to move away from OT. We welcome that and welcome you returning when new or different needs arise.
