K+C Café is proud to be a locally owned+operated family business. We opened in 2022 with a simple purpose – to serve amazing local coffee and create a genuine spot for the neighbourhood to gather. But if you look behind the counter, there’s a whole second layer to what we do.
Our roots go back over 17 years to Kids+Community, an occupational therapy practice supporting local children and families, which has recently evolved into K+C Village. Over the years, our teens kept telling us the same thing: they wanted real-world skills, to earn their own money, prepare for work, and hang out in a space that didn’t feel like a therapy clinic.
So in late 2022, we built K+C Community Café right across from our Burleigh therapy hub.
During the morning rush, we’re a local drop-in serving Parallel Roasters coffee alongside food from local suppliers like Burleigh Bakery and Clean+Raw Treats. During our operating
hours, our young crew learn the ropes, build confidence serving customers, and work side-by-side with our regular staff. After hours, the space comes alive with programs crafted with and for our teens+school leavers.
Whether you’re grabbing a quick takeaway or hanging out for a while to enjoy the sun on the lawn, every visit helps create practical, everyday opportunities for local young people.
